World War II Interviews

Russel Sattazahn

At Keeping History Alive, we proudly share the incredible story of Russel Sattazahn, a WWII veteran from Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, who served with the U.S. Army’s 1st Division, 18th Regiment, Company G. Russel recounts his journey from basic training to the European front, facing relentless enemy fire and enduring the loss of his hand during a fierce battle in Uckerath, Germany. His humility, resilience, and vivid recollections offer a deeply personal view of the sacrifices made during the war. By sharing Russel’s story, we honor his service and ensure future generations understand the courage and cost of protecting freedom.
